Step Into Your Spotlight with TSUFIT

   Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

I loved reading Step Into The Spotlight, by Tsufit.    It’s brimming with tips and stories for the entrepreneur and small business owner who wants to get noticed, get heard and attract more clients.

In fact I loved it so much, I interviewed the author Tsufit on my radio show today.  Here is just a taste of what she shared.

1. Choose your character before going out on stage.  Know who you are being so that other people can identify with you.

2. Have a script.  Every-one needs an infomercial.  Lousy scripts don’t work.

3. Know your inner core story.  Every-one has one!  The secret is to link it to your business.  If you don’t know what your story is or how to build the linkage, get someone to interview you or hire a coach.

4. This is not the time to have stage fright, it’s your time to shine.  If you’re feeling on the shy side, think of the last time you were doing something - anything - where you weren’t shy.  Let that be the seed to building confidence and your business.

5. All the world is a stage - smile and put your best authentic self forward.

Waving the Yellow Flag

   Friday, April 10th, 2009

I’m a high-achiever.  Always have been.  In university, I strongly identified with Dr. David McClelland’s theory of achievement orientation.  In other words, I came out of the womb motivated by goals and actions.

It’s too bad no one was waving a yellow flag in my general direction.  I could have used the warning that the flip side of high-achievement is:  over-achievement, workaholism and burnout.  I am no stranger to being slave to my need for high achievement and in the early 1980s - endangered my health.   Actually I crashed.  Literally.  One morning I just couldn’t (could not) open my eyes.  A fog took the place of purpose, clarity and action.

Of course the biggest achallenge for most high achievers (like me) is to ask for help.  We tend to want to do it all.   Of course the only problem with that is you can’t grow a business if you ARE the business.

Once I learned to systematize and delegate, to become more inter-dependent, to embrace a collaborative team - I could truly excel and leverage my drive and ambition to do far greater things.

If you find that you’re a high achiever, i’m waving the yellow flag.

Jack Canfield, Spell-binding Success

   Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

I just interviewed speaker, leader, awe-inspiring author Jack Canfield.

One of the things he shared was the simple way to tell whether you are living your life - and business - on purpose.  Here it is.

Is it joyful to you?  Does whatever you’re currently doing, make your heart sing?

If it does, great!  Your in the game!  If it does NOT, than you need to seriously think back to your own stories and what used to bring you joy, sheer de-light and happiness!

It sounds so simple, you almost have to wonder whether it’s true.  That is untill you think back to one of Abraham’s teachings:   SIMPLE brings us closest to our own inner TRUTH.

So here’s Jack’s Success Principle #1:  Take 100% Responsibility For Your Life.  Stop playing the blame-game (economy, customers, family, finances, relationship …) and focus on the one person who is really responsible for their outcomes and quality of life.  And that would be You.  Or in my case, Me.

Jack’s formula for success?  E + R = O.

Translation:  Events in your life + Your chosen Response to them = The Outcome you are living.

If you want a different outcome, you need to choose a different response.

On my must-read list:  The Success Principles.  How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be.  Author, Jack Canfield.

Of course there are no hard and fast rules.  You can choose to create your own Principles.

What would your #1 Success Principle be?

Birth of The New Renaissance

   Friday, April 3rd, 2009

What the global stage is experiencing right now is not a dip.  Rather we are at the dawning of what I believe to be an exciting new era.  One that we have been waiting for and ready to fully embrace:  The Entrepreneurial Renaissance.

Back in 2005, Patricia Aburdene wrote about it in her book, Megatrends 2010.  Connecting the dots, she opened the floodgates to our future and outright told us there would be a continuous surge toward finding meaning, morals and spiritual conviction.  This would lead to a “falling of Business as Usual”, with a collapse of the Corporate world as we have known it - and give birth to Conscious Capitalism.

Whether you are just hanging up your own shingle or have been a business owner for years, the new Renaissance calls you forward to embrace and build a business that is spirit-centered, one that flows from your highest life purpose and touches the hearts and souls of those you serve.

What Makes a Great Entrepreneur?

   Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

I asked a group of entrepreneurs this at a presentation the other day.  And one of them got up and smiled as he directly pointed to his head, his heart and finally his gut.

Everyone was silent for a minute and then someone else jumped in and said, “Makes total sense to me”.  And the applause started.

An entrepreneur needs their head in the right place to set up a mind for success.  Our outcomes are in direct correlation with our thoughts.

An entrepreneur needs their heart in the right place to feel compassion, empathy and employ the right combination of emotional intelligences.

An entrepreneur needs to listen to their gut because our inner guide and intuition always gives us the right signals.  We just have to stop and listen.

What do you think are the winning qualities of a great entrepreneur?
